Gemma Arterton Slips into the Sands of Time in The Prince of Persia

Gemma Arterton is Tamina. Do you know who Tamina is? Well, she's the lady character and love interest of Prince Dastan in The movie adaptation of the classic video game, The Prince of Persia.

Subtitled, The Sands of Time, the movie features Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role. Gyllenhaal's Prince Dastand and Arterton's Tamina are in a playful love-hate relationship in the movie - a kind of courtship that ends in the two getting deeper into each other even when they start out as rivals.

Tamina is supposed to be the lady-in-distress in the movie, but for the most part, it's Prince Dastan who appears to be in need of rescuing as he gets into all manner of dangerous situations that imperil his life. Tamina just smoothly goes through them all, confident of her own abilities. Arterton's character is really akin to that of a modern day woman who can hold her own.

As an actress and model, Arterton definitely can hold her own in these pictures. She's the kind of woman that commands attention in her pictures, which is very true for her face. The photographer of her portrait used for one of the The Prince of Persia promotional movie posters (left) certainly knew this and made the most of it. Arterton also appeared in Quantum of Solace as Strawberry Fields.

Mia Wasikowska Falls into the Rabbit Hole

Few but literary fans know about the surname of Alice in the novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. Fewer still know who Mia Wasikowska is. Well, that might not be for too long because Australian actress, Mia Wasikowska, is now Alice - Alice Kingsley to be exact - in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.

While the character Alice, based on the novels of Carroll, has been associated with different surnames, with Liddel being at the top of the list (that's actually the surname of the girl thought to have inspired the character), Wasikowska still has to get a movie associated with her. Well, it would be safe to assume that Alice in Wonderland is that movie.

While still a Disney movie, this Alice in Wonderland version by Tim Burton takes the classic to another level of characterization, design and interpretation. It being in 3D also adds to it's being much-anticipated. With an Alice that's fresh and adult, compared to the original depictions of Disney and illustrators, this is one movie that will take Mia Wasikowska to new levels of stardom. The trailer already gives us only a peek at what she's got to show. There's definitely more of her talent to experience.

If you think her name is hard to remember, don't worry, it's likely to become as familiar to everyone as Schwarzenegger after Alice in Wonderland!

What if Alice fell onto your tabletop or book case instead of the rabbit hole? This is how she would look like, then as a mini maquette hand-painted resin ornament. Just 5 inchess tall, cute and accompanied by White Rabbit as a court announcer (or whatever you call that), it's a perfect complement to your best-loved classic books. Korean Gianna Jun Plays Vampire Slayer in Blood: The Last Vampire

Gianna Jun is a rising star in Korea and now with Blood: The Last Vampire, she gets to play Saya, a half-human and half-vampire demon killer who works for the Japanese government. In the movie she is a live-action anime character who carries a samurai sword and crashes through walls.

In real life Gianna Jun or Ji-hyun, is softer, gentler, and sexier unlike her action-movie alter-ego. Here are two pictures of Gianna that you won't see in Blood: The Last Vampire.

Cute Chick in Nature Documentary Makes Leap of Faith

In the picture we one of the cast and extras in the movie Earth, which is based on the popular series Planet Earth. This one is perhaps the cutest "chick" to be featured here. But actually, it's a duckling - yes, a duckling, not a chick - although it's been labeled as one.

In the movie, Earth (due on April 22, 2009 on Earth Day), the duckling leaps off from its nest in the trunk of a tree. Perhaps it thought it can already fly, but it fails to do so and falls, as its wings are still too stubby. After plummeting from a precarious height, it amazingly softly bounces off the forest floor cushioned by dry leaves, and then nonchalantly walks away.

Somehow, this young "chick" must have instinctively known it will survive the fall and that somehow, it will be rescued from the ground by its nurturing parent. Of course, we have no idea what happens afterwards until we watch the environmental, nature documentary movie, Earth.
