Milla Jovovich's Afterlife in Resident Evil

Resident Evil is one video-movie franchise that's now inevitably associated with model/actress Milla Jovovich as Sean Connery is to James Bond and Tobey Macguire is to Spider-Man. The latest Resident Evil movie as of this writing, Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D, gives Jovovich a new look reminiscent of the costume designs in the Matrix series. When we all thought that Matrix fashion is passe, here we have Jovovich giving life to the techno-style outfits that make us think shades.

In Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D, Jovovich has got swords and guns that never seem to miss a scene. What would her character be without them? When it comes to weapons, Jovovich has got to have them in her movies. Yes, she's a bit stereotyped for such roles and we can expect more of her in movies with the same themes that combine fashion, chic, and action. Who knows how many more Resident Evil movies there will be?

Of course, there may come a time when it all must end, just like Sigourney Weaver's character in the Aliens series. But we all know that even after she died, she was brought back as a hybrid clone. We can only wonder how the Resident Evil heroine will end up. But what's certain is that fans will still not get enough of Jovovich even if Resident Evil fades into movie and video game history.

Jessica Alba Play Sartana in Machete

In the Machete movie of Robert Rodriguez, Jessica Alba plays a gun-toting chick called Sartana (inspired by Carlos Santana?). She's got a mean and sexy look in one of the Machete promotional posters. I guess she needs to look that way to match co-star Danny Trejo's gravely appearance. But she's really the opposite of Trejo in all aspects - she's smooth while he's rough.

For moviegoers, they will want to see Alba in Machete just for her looks. Of course, there's the slick action that we've all come to expect from a lot of Rodriguez's films. Alba will definitely sizzle in Machete even as she does all manner of stunts that she can do without using a double - a stunt double. If you were thinking body double then it's likely you're wrong as it's obvious that she doesn't need one even now that she's a mom.

Danny Trejo Is the Mean Machete Man

We all know this face. He's basically played the same character in a number of Robert Rodriguez's Mexican-inspired films like Desperado. He's Mexican-American actor and former bodybuilder Danny Trejo. Now, Trejo's the lead in another of Rodriguez's films, called Machete. In his past movies, Trejo used to carry a lot of knives all over his body; in the movie, Machete, he carries bigger knives called machetes! If you've ever wondered how Trejo looked like as a young bodybuilder, just take a look at the picture at the left. He kind of reminds us of Edward James Olmos.

We can only wonder why Rodriguez likes to cast Trejo as a knife-wielding-unsmiling-scary-man, but you have to admit, when Trejo frowns with that classic Western mustache of his, you kind of feel that he's going to eat you alive! But that's really just for the movies. It's basically the character that we're all used to see him portray which are identified with him by now as much as Spock is to Leonard Nimoy, except that Trejo plays different characters who just look and do the same things! Now we would all want a Trejo action figure after Machete! What's that? Did I hear someone say Jessica Alba? Yes, she stars with Trejo in Machete, by the way. I think she's somewhere in this blog.

Julie Benz Plays Gumshoe in The Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day

In the original The Boondock Saints, the religious vigilante brothers MaCmanus were pursued by a lawman played by Willem Dafoe. Dafoe switched sides to join them in raising arms against evil men through the MacManuses own brand of "spiritual calling" justice. In the sequel, director Troy Duffy decided to add a new investigator to go after the renegade brother's tails. This time, it's a babe, and it's Julie Benz.

Benz has appeared on both television and movies and some of you may remember her in CSI, John Rambo, and Saw V. For fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, she's the vampire temptress Darla. But even when not playing a sexy vampire, she's still a temptress as herself. In The Boondock Saints: All Saints Day, she adds spice to a role that used to be filled by Dafoe. Her addition is another reason for dudes to watch the sequel to the Duffy classic.
